The Keepers of Proelefsi. Our beholders watched over us from the time of the Builders into the forever of future. We honor their passage into humanity as a hallmark to the world's imbalance, and they represented our simpler forms to return the scales to their rightful place. The eldest, §othe Keeper of Nature§0, descended first. For he was the wisest of the five, the one who was birthed into the righteous order when this plane at first grew green. Nature descended for a solitary goal, separate from the five.
The high deserts of the south Nyumbani threatened the greens of West Proelefsi, as did the red-hot fires of the north and the washing floods of the west. His kingdom faced destruction, and he alone saved it from complete elimination, proving deity to his people and earning his place. His nation of Nyumbani, occupy the vast lands where the dense jungles of the west persist now. But after Nature had saved his lands from dry destruction, he discovered another that felt their domain's scales were disturbed.
Peace and her bitter rival Ruin both descended, fearing one would restle control of the entire world before the other did. Confusion followed their path, with Ruin causing destruction to wrestly immediate control, and Peace rallying the people together to unite the people against a common enemy. The two separated after a time, Peace remaining above the ground, while Ruin went below to the depths of Neth'rin.
Peace established her kingdom with alliance. She gathered several dozen disparate kingdom's uniting them under a flag, a belief, and herself. She named her Kingdom Havalia, a haven for all those above ground. She wrestled strict control over the people with diplomacy, law, and order. Punishment remained strict and the laws stricter. Yet the people made no complaints. They thoroughly believed her rule to be superior and sovereign. For she was, of course, the domain-holder of Peace. For how can one argue against the demands of a god?
Yet Ruin established her kingdom with uproar. None would respect the claims of a god in a pit of eternal flame. So Ruin slew her path to the throne, and she gained position in likely speed to her rival. As cardinal and complete ruler over her kingdom, Neth'rin, she made the path to her position impossible to gain again. She collapsed, flattened the heirarchy of the nether, and made herself absolute authority. A contest to the rule meant death, not by her, but by those who felt it an insult to even bother with contending. Neither kingdom would fall to the other. They remained in a stifled stalemate for many, many years.
Decades would pass until the fourth and fifth of the godhoods came down. The Keepers of Knowledge and Deception, antitheses to each other, stayed silent to each other's domain, growing and advancing in their own rights. Deception slew the dragon that silently presided over the End, and as the hero of Terendrailiath, used her position as a spyglass. She undercut men, wormed her way into positions, and made herself known across the lands without her name ever being spoken. Soon the most critical of those in both the Nether and the Overworld were under her influence. She used that to gain her way into the audiences of both Peace and Ruin. To both she promised the same thing: a false unification to thwart the other. She had no such thing in mind. Her intentions were to wait for the chaos to unfold, and collect what was left.
Knowledge, though, had a different plan. Like Deception, he sought control over the minds of Proelefsi, but to expand, not to contract. He established libraries across Proelefsi—Porticos that are here to this day—that were used to distribute understanding that many lacked beforehand. His reach, like before, reached across Proelefsi, but with an intend to convince and not to lurk. His own kingdom, while small, was only the heart of the communication revolution. His prodigious use of the roadway, and the expansion of it, flourished all kingdoms across Proelefsi. Even he had a reach to the Neth'rin societies that many simply could not have. Yet under Deception, his information was used for much ill.
Deception had waited long enough for the chaos to begin. Deception took Knowledge's own systems and twisted it against the other four Through rumor, gossip, mutterings and murmurings, a distrust grew within the unit that Deception herself formed. Yet, the Keepers encountered a problem. Wide gashes, slashed into the earth like the aftermath of a a sword's blade appeared. The Nether's corruptive energy seeped out of these gashes, poisoning and killing by the thousands. It was chaos, but it was not chaos enough. So she used the attempt at collaboration to her advantage. She developed a cure—a genuine fix to the issue, yet a solution that she developed entirely alone.
All at once, she unleashed the cure, striking deep into the earth and burrowing below the bedrock—All at once, the Nether was aflame. Fearing an intense attack, Ruin unleashed the entirety of her forces on the overworld, ravaging the above lands for all that it had. Forests were burned, civilizations toppled, the Nether, in retaliation, was demolished and set back a century. The End found out about her plans, and took her into an eternal prison. The roads and highways were no longer of use. After the Keepers' War, nothing remained. No Keeper had anything left to maintain. So they left the scorched lands behind. They rescinded their human likeness, back to an observational state. The Keepers are in wait now, eager for another point to step back onto the earth another time.
